FAME Foundation strongly condemns the alarming rise in abductions, particularly those targeting women and girls. These acts of violence not only violate fundamental human rights but also instill fear, disrupt education, and hinder progress toward gender equality.
The recent abduction of four female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, and NYSC member Lawal Rofiat Kofoworola in Oyo State is deeply disturbing and unacceptable. These young women, dedicated to their education and national service, have once again fallen victim to the worsening insecurity that continues to endanger lives, particularly women.
These attacks are not just a violation of their safety but also a reminder of the urgent need for stronger security measures. The government and security agencies must take immediate action to ensure their safe return and reinforce protection for students, corps members, and other vulnerable groups.
We strongly condemn these kidnappings and demand urgent and effective steps to bring the perpetrators to justice. No woman should have to live in fear while pursuing her dreams. The safety of women is non-negotiable, and we stand in solidarity with the victims and their families, demanding swift and decisive action.
